At times, it is possible to post bond after an arrest and before the arraignment. Contact the arresting police agency to see if there is a bond. If there is no bond, the defendant will be arraigned by the court. After the arraignment, bond can be posted at the district court during court business hours or at the Oakland County Jail if the defendant is held there (twenty-four hours a day). Bonds can typically be paid by cash or credit card. Please contact the court or sheriff's department for specific payment options and credit card fees.
If you were ordered by the judge, magistrate or a probation officer, you must follow any instructions verbally given or stated in writing on your bond order. Do not wait for one of these programs to contact you. You are responsible for compliance with your conditional release.
The Court Appointed Attorney will meet you at your next court date.
To inquire about someone in the Oakland County Jail, call 248-858-1800.
If you have an outstanding bench warrant, you should turn yourself into the court to be arraigned on the warrant. Be prepared to post bond and receive notification of your next court date.
If you are in need of services for mental health/substance abuse and you have no insurance, contact the Oakland Community Health Network at (248) 464-6363. They provide services for Oakland County residents.
