Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network and Michigan Medicine Network Negotiation
We are pleased to share that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN) have reached an agreement with University of Michigan Health system, also known as Michigan Medicine. As a result, Michigan Medicine providers and facilities will remain in-network for our BCBSM and BCN medical plans.
There will be no disruption to in-network access for covered services, and our employees and their covered family members may continue to receive care from Michigan Medicine as they do today.

Teladoc Health is a Chronic Condition Management and Virtual Care support tool available to Oakland County employees and qualified dependents that are enrolled in Oakland County health plans. Enrollment in Teladoc Health is optional and Chronic Condition Management is available at no cost for those enrolled in Oakland County health plans.
Chronic Conditions Supported:
Virtual Care by Teladoc Health is available through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network. Medical visits are available 24/7, anywhere in the U.S., when your primary care provider isn’t available. You don’t need an appointment and the average wait time is 10 minutes.
Teladoc Health also provides mental health services with licensed therapists and has evening and weekend appointments available. 75% of people using the Teladoc Health mental health benefit report this service has made them feel better in just 3 appointments.
In 2026, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO1 and HDHP enrollees have a $0 copay for Virtual Care appointments conducted via Teladoc Health!

Maven is a family building and women's health solution supporting all paths to parenthood and beyond. Oakland County is pleased to offer this benefit to employees and qualified dependents enrolled in an Oakland County medical plan. Maven provides expert coaching for:

Hearing aid coverage is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network. For more information, please choose the plan information below that corresponds to the medical plan that you are enrolled in.
Please note that before receiving your hearing aid, you must have a medical examination of the ear performed by a participating board-certified or board-eligible otologist, otolaryngologist, or otorhinolaryngologist.

The Human Resources Department has been notified by Oakland County insurance carriers that some chiropractors have been providing services to Oakland County employees, retirees and dependents that are not covered by Oakland County’s medical plans and have been billing services incorrectly. Oakland County’s medical coverage has not changed, rather this information was discovered after an investigation from insurance carriers.

Get up to a three-month supply of our maintenance medication(s) delivered safely and reliably right to your door. Save time and money!
- Visit bcbsm.com and log in to your secure member account. Click My Coverage, then Prescription, then Manage prescriptions.
- Log in to your Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan mobile app and tap My Coverage, then Prescription, then Mail Order.
- Call the Optum Home Delivery Pharmacy; they’ll contact your doctor to get your new three-month supply prescription.

Effective January 1, 2025, Heritage Vision Plans will be Oakland County's vision plan provider. Employees enrolled in coverage for 2025 received their new cards in the mail at the end of December. If you have not received your card, please contact benefits@oakgov.com.

We have a LASIK reimbursement on the Premier vision plan! The maximum reimbursement is $600 per eye, per lifetime. Here are a few things to note:
- The benefit is available as a reimbursement through Heritage Vision Plans by using the Out-of-Network/LASIK Reimbursement form.
- The reimbursement amount is the same if you are using an in-network or out-of-network provider.

Pet Insurance
At Oakland County, we recognize that pets are family, too!
Pet Insurance is available to full-time employees. Pets can be added to your benefit plan when you sign up for benefits as a new hire, during open enrollment, or if you adopt a pet.
How it works: Visit any licensed vet or clinic, pay your bill and submit a claim, then receive reimbursement for eligible expenses.
To register your pet, file claims, or manage your account online, click HERE. First-time users should register with their personal email address.
Highlights:
- Covers illnesses, injuries and more, with a $5,000 annual limit, $300 deductible, and 20% coinsurance.
- Insurance does not apply to preventative care and ER visits are excluded from coverage.
- Available for pets ages 8 weeks - 10 years (must enroll before age 11 and pre-existing conditions are covered after 12 months.
- 2026 post-tax costs per paycheck: $21.81 per dog and $11.05 per cat.
