Task Force Overview
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners recognizes the seriousness of human trafficking and the ongoing threat it poses to vulnerable adults and children, as well as to the safety of all the people of Oakland County. The Oakland County Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force was created in 2015 as the Oakland County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) under the Board's authorization. The goal of the task force is to serve as the leading resource for Oakland County in the prevention of human trafficking and in the protection and rehabilitation of victims, through education, advocacy and collaboration.

The Oakland County Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force engages and collaborates with numerous county agencies to:
- Collect and analyze information on human trafficking in Oakland County
- Improve public awareness of the crime of human trafficking and preventative measures that can be taken
- Plan, coordinate and implement community events to expand awareness, provide education and training, and prevent human trafficking
- Improve information sharing and coordination of activities among organizations combating human trafficking
- Review and make recommendations for existing programs and services aimed at prevention and rehabilitation of victims
- Provide informational materials to assist victims with accessing available programs and services
- Identify opportunities to provide information and training to law enforcement, judicial departments, social service agencies, healthcare organizations, educational institutions and other appropriate entities
- Identify sources of funding to combat human trafficking in Oakland County and make recommendations to appropriate agencies to access funding when available
- Make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding potential changes in federal, state, county or local policies or laws to enhance efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking
Oakland County Human Trafficking Website
In January 2018, the Board of Commissioners and the Health Division launched the Oakland County human trafficking prevention website, which includes vital information about human trafficking in Oakland County. It is a resource for human trafficking victims and their advocates, parents and professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about this serious issue. The creation of this website was a collaborative effort between the Oakland County Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force and its many partners. The launch of the new site was announced at a press conference on January, 11, 2018.
