Community E-Recycling Event at Lake St. Clair Metropark
The Detroit Zoo is teaming up with the Metroparks to conserve habitats and reduce waste in the Great Lakes! For one day only, you can bring your old, unwanted electronics to Lake St. Clair Metropark to be sustainably recycled. As a reward, you can earn tickets to the Detroit Zoo, redeemable for one year. Small loads (at least 17 gallons) earn one Zoo ticket, while large loads (a whole backseat of a vehicle or trunk full) earn two.
What to recycle:
- All TVs and monitors (flat screen, CRT, etc.)
- Printers
- Computers and laptops
- Cell phones and tablets
- Holiday lights, cords and other wire
- DVD and VHS players
- Batteries*
- Radios
- Small electronics
- Small appliances (does not include refrigerators)
Personal information should be deleted from electronic devices before coming to recycle. All hard drives will be destroyed to U.S. Department of Defense standards. A certificate of destruction can be emailed upon request.
Every electronic recycled reduces landfill waste, protects animal habitats and makes the world a greener place! Registered participants get free entry to the Metropark the day of the event. Registration is required.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at Lake St. Clair Metropark, Back Parking Lot B.
