Oakland County Transit Providers
North Oakland Transportation Authority (NOTA)
The North Oakland Transportation Authority (NOTA) provides transportation services to the residents of:
- Addison Township
- Brandon Township
- Independence Township
- Orion Township
- Oxford Township
- Springfield Township
- Village of Clarkston
- Village of Lake Orion
- Village of Leonard
- Village of Ortonville
- Village of Oxford
All residents are eligible to ride, with priority given to people with disabilities, seniors aged 55 and older, veterans, and low-income individuals.

To schedule a ride, call 248-693-7100 and press “2” to reach the dispatch office.
To manage high ride demand, NOTA can schedule rides during peak times (Mon-Fri, 7-10 a.m. and 2-7 p.m.) two to seven business days in advance, based on availability. All other rides may be requested up to three months in advance, based on availability.
OPC Social & Activity Center (OPC)
The OPC Social & Activity Center provides transportation services to the residents of:
- Oakland Township
- Rochester
- Rochester Hills
All residents are eligible to ride, with priority given to people with disabilities, seniors aged 55 and older, veterans, and low-income individuals.

People’s Express (PEX)
People’s Express (PEX) provides transportation services to the residents of:
- Commerce Township
- Lyon Township
- Milford
- Milford Township
- Novi
- Novi Township
- South Lyon
- Wixom
- Wolverine Lake
All residents are eligible to ride, with priority given to people with disabilities, seniors aged 55 and older, veterans, and low-income individuals.

Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART)
SMART is Southeast Michigan's regional bus system. SMART provides a variety of transit services including:

All residents are eligible to ride standard fixed route buses and utilize Flex services. For Connector services, priority is given to people with disabilities, seniors aged 55 and older and veterans.

Please note that when scheduling Connector or ADA Paratransit services, medical rides are recommended to be scheduled six business days in advance, rides to other destinations may be scheduled two days in advance.
Western Oakland Transportation Authority (WOTA)
The Western Oakland Transportation Authority (WOTA) provides transportation services to the residents of:

- Highland
- Holly Township
- Holly Village
- Keego Harbor
- Lake Angelus

- Rose Township
- Sylvan Lake
- Walled Lake
- Waterford
- White Lake
All residents (18+) are eligible to ride, with priority given to people with disabilities, seniors aged 55 and older, veterans, and low-income individuals.

Tips for Taking Oakland Transit
Schedule your Ride
Community transit providers require riders to share basic information including their name, address, emergency contact and special assistance requirements before scheduling a ride.
Fill out your rider registration form online for the following transit providers:
To schedule a ride with People’s Express, call 877-214-6073 with the following information:
- Rider’s Full Name
- Pickup and drop-off addresses
- Desired time and date for trip
- Special assistance requirements (if applicable)

Book Trips with Connections
Oakland County’s transit providers work together to coordinate rides that extend beyond one provider’s service area by scheduling trip connections. Coordinating trip connections allows residents to freely travel throughout all of Oakland County to medical appointments, work, school, and other engaging social activities.
To schedule a ride with a connection, call your local transit provider with the desired pickup and drop-off addresses. Their dispatcher will work to coordinate your connections with the transit providers needed to complete the requested ride. Please note, rides with connections may take longer to complete and count as two rides, which is reflected in the trip fare.

- Download the Transit App to view local bus schedules, routes, and wait times.
- Use the Google Maps Transit Trip Planner to locate bus stops, compare bus routes, and receive live trip updates as you ride.
Download the SMART Flex App to request a ride in the SMART Flex Service Zone. This on-demand service serves the Auburn Hills/Pontiac, Dearborn, Farmington/Farmington Hills, Hall Road, and Troy/Clawson areas.
