Due to the recent water main break, many Oakland County businesses and organizations are forced to temporarily lay off workers. Those impacted workers MAY be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits through the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency.
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency document below is a resource for businesses, community partners, residents, and leaders. This document provides instructions on how to file an unemployment claim, guidance on how to certify for benefits, and details on allowable work search activities. The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency has also designed a Claimant Roadmap that breaks down the steps on how to apply for benefits.
For individuals who need computer access to file a claim or would like personal assistance filing a claim, the staff at our six Oakland County Michigan Works! locations are available to provide guidance and support. Individuals may also call 1-800-285-WORK to be connected to the Michigan Works! location closest to home.
