Oakland County Employee Participation

Children’s Village welcomes Oakland County employees to support and engage in various events and activities that enrich the lives of our youth. Volunteer opportunities may include special events, mentorship-based activities, recreational programming, and seasonal initiatives.

To ensure the safety, well-being, and protection of all residents, the following protocol must be followed:

Eligibility & Participation Requirements

  • Volunteer opportunities are open to Oakland County employees in good standing.
  • All volunteers must receive prior approval before participating in any Children’s Village event or activity.
  • If you are not an Oakland County employee and are seeking volunteer opportunities, please see information on Community Partnerships.

Mandatory Compliance Requirements

  • PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Forms must be fully completed prior to volunteering.
  • PREA Training is required and must be successfully completed before any interaction with youth.

No employee may participate in volunteer activities without documented completion of both requirements.

Safety & Conduct Expectations

  • Volunteers must adhere to all Children’s Village policies, procedures, and staff direction while on-site.
  • Professional boundaries must be maintained at all times.
  • Any concerns, incidents, or unusual interactions must be reported immediately to Children’s Village staff.

Coordination & Oversight

  • All volunteer activities will be coordinated through designated Children’s Village leadership or liaison.
  • Volunteers should not independently arrange activities or interact with residents outside of approved programming.
  • Children’s Village is committed to providing a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. Your partnership and adherence to these protocols help ensure positive and meaningful experiences for our youth.
