52-1 Landlord Tenant

Proceedings to recover possession of premises and/or obtain a money judgment.

The action must be filed at the District Court where the premises are located.

If there is a claim for a money judgment on a landlord tenant case the District Court has jurisdiction up to $25,000.00. If a claim for money exceeds the court's jurisdiction, the District Court determines the possession issue and the Circuit Court determines the money portion. Partnerships may not be represented in court by officers, directors, or other employees who are not licensed to practice law in Michigan.

$20.00 fee required on all motions, 2nd summons, alternate service.

Landlord / Tenant Fees for Possession Only: $55.00

Landlord Tenant Fees for Possession & Money Judgment:

  • $90.00: Claim is $600.00 and under
  • $110.00: Claim is $600.01 - $1,750.00
  • $130.00: Claim is $1,750.01 - $10,000.00
  • $215.00: Claim is $10,000.01 - $25,000.00

  • Dennis Allen -- Flint area: $71.00
  • Listed fees are for each defendant.
  • Service fee for a garnishment is $3.00 less than the fee listed above.
