Department of Health and Human Services
The court may place a youthful offender with the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The court views this as a last resort if all local programming has been tried, the youth continues to commit offenses, and/or a determination is made that a particular youth's needs cannot be met locally.
The State contracts with a number of private facilities to provide a wide range of placements.
