Raghavender Tummala is helping to keep the public safe in the age of electrification and autonomy. He is a lead risk mitigation engineer at General Motors and a distinguished subject matter expert in EV battery safety and fire dynamics. As GMÕs key representative on the Automotive Alliance Action Group and NAATBatt InternationalÕs Battery Safety Committee, Tummala works with peers from other manufacturers to create universal battery handling and storage standards. Tummala serves on the advisory panel of a broad scientific journal, Engineering Research Express, as well as a principal member of the National Fire Protection AssociationÕs Principal NFPA 800 committee, where he drafts fundamental fire safety codes for battery technologies. A South Lyon resident, Tummala earned his bachelorÕs degree in mechanical engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India, his masterÕs degrees in mechanical engineering and automotive systems engineering from the University of Michigan Ð Dearborn, and heÕs currently working on his masterÕs in business administration & data analytics from Carnegie Mellon University.
