Nicholas Blackmond has dedicated his life to the safety and well-being of others. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he was a fleet marine force hospital corpsman, providing medical care to more than 6,000 service members for nearly a decade. Blackmond continued his medical profession into civilian life. As the quality improvement manager and medical coordinator at the Dr. Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic in Pontiac, he provides free access to primary and specialty care for uninsured patients, while managing clinic-wide protocols. He is an internship site supervisor and advisory board member at Wayne State UniversityÕs Exercise & Sports Science Program as well as an EMBARK program mentor and clinical education liaison at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He is also an author/co-author of eight peer-reviewed publications and a regular presenter at national and regional conferences. Blackmond earned his bachelorÕs degree in exercise and sports science and his masterÕs degree in physiology as well as completing his doctorate in kinesiology from Wayne State University.
