With the purpose of bettering the world around him, Joshua Lumsden began his career in public service with the City of Farmington Hills Parks Department and is now a federal investigator for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In his current position, Lumsden examines discrimination charges in workplaces to ensure that people of all backgrounds have equal employment opportunities.

Not only is he an advocate for public transportation, but he also rides the SMART bus when commuting to his office in Detroit. As the caretaker of the Drayton Plains Nature Center in Waterford Township, Lumsden keeps it free from invasive species and overgrowth while working with youth in the community service program.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Lumsden lives in Waterford.
