33 Chief Sustainability Officer Oakland County From planting trees and encouraging recycling to leading policy change, Erin Quetell is working to better the world now and for future generations. Currently, she serves as Oakland CountyÕs first chief sustainability officer, advancing environmental programs and services throughout the 62 cities, villages, and townships. She is also tasked with improving the sustainability practices of Oakland CountyÕs facilities and operations. She hosted the countyÕs first-ever sustainability conference in 2023 and under her leadership the county recently achieved gold status for exemplary action in the Michigan Green Communities program. In her previous role, Quetell was FerndaleÕs environmental sustainability planner where she was responsible for infusing sustainable practices into everyday operations, including installing the first city-owned solar array and converting streetlights to LED bulbs. In addition, she is a board member of the Clinton River Watershed Council, a member of the Farmington Hills Water Advisory Council and an alumna of the Leadership Oakland LOXXXIV Cornerstone Program Class. Quetell earned a bachelorÕs degree in biology from Grand Valley State University and an MPA in environmental science and policy from Columbia University in New York. She lives in Farmington Hills.
