Having experienced a complicated pregnancy and postpartum course herself, Malayev is an advocate for maternal health and also focuses on helping Russian-speaking Ukrainian refugees.
Through Blue Cross Blue ShieldÕs Obstetrics Initiative, she continuously works to prevent unnecessary cesarean births and improve health outcomes for mothers and infants.

She earned a doctorate in osteopathic medicine and a masterÕs degree in public health from Nova Southeastern University in Florida as well as bachelorÕs degrees in biology and Russian language and literature from the University of Michigan.
Malayev and her husband live in West Bloomfield with their two children and dog.
