A commitment to excellence in teaching and research has propelled Dr. Jun Chen and his students at Oakland University to shine in the STEM-related workforce with a focus on automotive control systems.

He is also the faculty advisor for the Oakland Robotics Association and is an active member of a disability awareness subgroup at OU to raise awareness of the resources available to people in need.

Chen was a senior control systems engineer for General Motors and a research scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory. He has received an NSF Career Award from the National Science Foundation and a Research Excellence Award from Iowa State University.

A resident of Novi, Chen earned a bachelor’s degree in Automation from Zhejiang University in China and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.
