Workforce Development Manager
Barton Malow Company

As a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and Workforce Development Manager of Barton Malow construction company in Southfield, Hernando Flowers is using his experience and networks to help educate people about the construction industry and find career paths that will lead to economic prosperity.

He has worked with the Michigan Army National Guard and given talks to Middle and High schoolers about career opportunities in both the construction field and the Army.

He has volunteered time to clean Piquette Square, a 150-unit apartment project in Detroit to house and care for homeless veterans. Flowers is the Treasurer/Finance Manager of the Autism and Us organization.

He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis, MO, and a doctorate from the National Graduate School of Quality Management in Falmouth, MA. He lives in Belleville.
