Spending the better part of his career in public service, Jason Hoskins has used his positions as a legislative staffer and Southfield City Council member to help make his city and state a better place to live.
As a legislative staffer to state Sen. Jeremy Moss, he's helped craft legislation that reduces commercial blight, promotes neighborhood reinvestment and protects Southfield's environment.
As a Southfield City Council member, he's helping make sure the redevelopment of the Northland Mall will be a catalyst to bring new people into the community. He also has worked toward reform in the Southfield Police Department, including the implementation of body cameras and a prohibition on chokeholds.
Hoskins received a bachelor's and master's in Public Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University and a law degree from University of Detroit Mercy.
A former vice president of the NAACP's Wayne/Macomb chapter, Hoskins lives in Southfield.
