Captain (Res.) Shimon G. Levy is founding principal of Northend Capital in Oak Park, a fund investing and operating traditional core service, brick and mortar industries, servicing the real estate market throughout the Midwest. A former IDF Naval officer with over a decade of military, government, public and private sector experience, Shimon was born in Israel and raised as the son of diplomats in Nepal and Australia, before returning to Israel and joining the IDF. Throughout his military career, Shimon has performed diverse roles including ship commander, squadron commander, Ashdod Naval Base major project director and foreign liaison. He has a proven track record of taking an idea and turning it into a reality. Before being recruited to build a fund in Detroit, Shimon initiated and spearheaded a project balancing the information about Israel and the Middle East in top tier university campuses. The idea to lead student peers to Israel and Palestine over spring break has developed into a well-financed initiative that brought over 2,000 students to Israel. Shimon was previously a principal in Secret Sauce Capital (SSC), a venture capital and private equity firm. At SSC, he was head of ancillary businesses and managed three portfolio companies. Simultaneously, he worked as senior strategic adviser to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit where he specialized in millennial engagement and retention, philanthropic advancement, Israel strategy and speaking engagements. He is a graduate of University of Haifa (B.A.), Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (M.A.) and most recently, Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government (M.P.P.) where he was the 2014 commencement speaker. A proud new Detroiter, Shimon is currently renovating a 94-year-old German Tudor together with Jennie and their dog Boten, Shimon loves people, traveling, and big ideas that impact.
