Owner New Heights Assisted Living Sarah G. Thomas and her husband own New Heights Assisted Living in Clarkston, which provides care to those in need of 24-hour assistance. The facility mission is ÒTaking quality care and purposeful living to new heights,Ó which forms the basis for how it operates. Within four months of opening, New Heights was named ClarkstonÕs Best of the Best in Senior Living. SarahÕs goal is to make every day for the residents a day full of purpose and moments of joy. Along with working with the senior population, Sarah coaches teen girls in athletics, The Apostolic ChurchÕs youth group, as well as teaching empowerment programs for at-risk young ladies. She created the program, which is based on experiential learning theory and choice theory. This focuses on building self-worth, healthy relationships, leadership and communication skills and positive decision-making. Her greatest aspiration is to facilitate opportunities for both young and old to live life to its full potential. When others might look past a young teen who is going down the wrong path or a senior citizen in decline, Sarah wants to be there to say, "LetÕs find what is good, what is left, and what we can do to enable that individual to live a purposeful life.Ó Her mission is to give hope, celebrate life and grow herself by growing others.
