Read to a Child Inc.

Ky Lindberg is regional director of Read to a Child, Inc., a national nonprofit organization which fosters a love of reading, improves literacy skills and empowers underserved children by inspiring adults to read to them regularly. She joined the organization in response to the rising concerns surrounding children's literacy and is committed to providing students with the support needed to have future success. The metropolitan Detroit chapter has experienced a 56 percent growth in contributions, 146 percent increase in the number of students served and 60 percent growth in volunteer involvement. For the past 15 years, she has supported children's educational success through nonprofit leadership, student support services and creating district wide operational efficiencies. Before joining Read to a Child, Ky was communications and resource director for Eastside Community Network, a founding leadership team member for SW Detroit Lighthouse Academy and a senior community liaison for Congressman Sander Levin. She is a mentor to young women at Madison High School and Oakland University and is a member of Detroit Young Professionals. For eight years she was regional president and national board member of Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural, Inc. supporting the educational and professional development of young women across the country. Ky also served in varying capacities for Oak Park Youth Assistance, Royal Oak Community Coalition, Tri Community Coalition, Oak Park Schools Foundation, NAACP and the SE Michigan Flood Recovery Group. She is a native Detroiter and graduate of Wayne State University. She is the wife of Pete Lindberg, a police officer, and the mother of their sons Jae’won, Raymond and Archer. They live in Berkley.
