Construction Update
The Paradise Peninsula area of Waterford Oaks County Park is currently closed to the public for construction work. The renovated area is expected to reopen in 2026.
Please see the construction map below for details about trails and park areas that will be closed or re-routed.
The following work will be completed:
- New expanded playground
- New pavilion
- New adult fitness area
- New year-round restrooms

Upcoming Event
Wheels & Squeals Touch A Truck event

Pump the brakes and stop by the Waterford Oaks County Park BMX Track to explore the types of trucks and vehicles used by Oakland County and local companies from 4:30-8 p.m. June 25.
New this year is a "Give-it-a-Try" BMX Session. Experience the BMX track firsthand with bikes provided by Waterford Oaks BMX. To participate, guests must have long sleeves, long pants and closed-toe shoes.
Additional activities include food truck, music and more. There will be a quiet time from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and the Quiet Zone will be on site with sensory regulation tools, such as noise reducing headphones and fidget tools available. The Huron-Clinton Metroparks will distribute more than 500 free life jackets to help promote safe recreation on the water.
Wheels & Squeals is sponsored by Xfinity. The event is free and open to the public.

Headquarters of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission, 199-acre Waterford Oaks is also home to the world-class Waterford Oaks Bicycle Motocross (BMX) Track; more than three miles of hiking trails; the universally-accessible Paradise Peninsula Playscape; two platform tennis and year-round pickleball courts; sand volleyball courts; a winter family sledding hill; and outdoor fitness equipment. Lookout Lodge, Waterford Oaks Event Center and picnic shelters are available for rent. The Oakland County Farmers Market, open three days a week May-December and Saturdays only January-April, provides grower-direct produce, fresh flowers and artisan goods..

Tai Chi Wellness Series

The Oakland County Farmers Market Wellness Series features a free, 45-minute tai chi lesson with Studio 8 Fitness instructors from May through September. Mark your calendar for Saturday morning yoga from 9:30-10:15 a.m. followed by tai chi from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on July 4, Aug. 1 and Sept. 5.
Then, make time for Lunchtime Yoga from noon-12:45 p.m. on July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17.
All sessions will be held outdoors on the grassy area to the west of the market building. The Market Wellness Series is Presented by University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital & Trinity Health Oakland Hospital and Dr. Anil Kumar with Healthy Horizon Sponsor McLaren Oakland.
In case of inclement weather, program will be canceled. Watch the market’s Facebook page for updates. This program is hosted by the Oakland County Farmers Market in collaboration with Healthy Oakland Partnership.
