What is a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)?
A Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a flexible, formula-based funding program provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to keep communities sound, attractive, and economically viable.
Does Oakland County receive CDBG funding?
Yes. Oakland County provides federal CDBG funding to communities for revitalization projects. The program strengthens neighborhoods by supporting local revitalization, home improvement and public services for senior citizens, low income persons and families, disadvantaged youth, and disabled residents throughout most of Oakland County.

How much CDBG does a qualified area receive?
Participating communities receive a formula share of funds for eligible activities that best meet community needs.
Can a citizen be involved in their community CDBG plans?
Yes. Citizens are encouraged to get involved in the local decision-making process. View Oakland County's Current Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan, by clicking the "Publications" tab on the Neighborhood & Housing Development homepage.

PY 2026 CDBG Workshop Materials
The following includes the training materials, applications, and environmental review forms that will be used when applying for PY2026 CDBG funds. Please ensure your applications are submitted by December 5, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.:
Oakland County’s CDBG funds are allocated directly to participating cities, villages, and townships—not to individual organizations. Organizations seeking CDBG support are encouraged to reach out to the local municipality for available funding options.
