F.O.R. Helpline (Food and Other Resources)

The F.O.R. Helpline, hosted by Food Bank Council of Michigan, offers assistance in over 240 languages to Michigan residents in all 83 counties that may need help with applying for SNAP benefits, accessing local food programs, or referrals to other resources. Food Bank Council website.

Forgotten Harvest

Community Choice Market Pantry, open 6 days a week, is a shopping market experience for the community to select from a variety of no-cost groceries. Must call the market to schedule your appointment at 248-268-7756. Find a pantry near you.

MDHHS On-the-Go Site 

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) office in Madison Heights is hosting an event every third Tuesday of the month. Individuals in Southeast Michigan in need of food must make an appointment for this location by emailing MDHHS-FH-Oakland@michigan.gov.  

Double Up Food Bucks

When you use your Bridge Card/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks earns you unlimited dollar-for-dollar match on fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables (with no added salt, sugar, or oil) at participating grocery stores and farmers markets. 

Double Up Food Bucks are distributed:

• Directly onto Double Up cards, or loyalty cards at participating locations, where applicable
• As printed vouchers for shoppers using tokens or coupons at participating locations

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

SNAP provides benefits to low-income families to supplement their grocery budget so they can afford nutritious food essential to health and well-being.

New SNAP policies have been established after a resolution was signed into law on July 4, 2025. Learn about new SNAP requirement changes including work requirements. 

Specific Dietary Needs & Other Special Considerations

Diabetic Food Pantry

Spirit of Grace Church hosts a drive-up Diabetic Food Pantry for diabetics and their caregivers. Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Older Adults

Meals on Wheels is a food pantry that caters to older adults in Oakland County. It offers homebound seniors with meals and daily human contact.

Veterans

Veteran Resource Fairs for all veterans, active duty, guard and reserves and their families. Food distribution will include produce, meat, and grocery store gift card. Registration required.

Ethnic Communities

• Yad Ezra is a Kosher pantry. New clients must complete a new client application.
• La Casa Amiga is a walk-in pantry with cultural staples available.
• United Community Family Services has a food pantry with cultural staples available. Call 248-528-0130 to enroll.

LGBTQ+

Affirmations hold food pantries with fresh and non-perishable foods every 3rd Saturday. Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The Oakland County Food Policy Council is a collaboration of food system partners in Oakland County. Additional resources available for SNAP Households.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

WIC provides supplemental healthy foods, nutrition counseling and education, breastfeeding education and support, immunizations, and referrals to other helpful services for those who qualify.
