The Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) offers a number of workshops throughout the year targeted towards increasing the knowledge of those interested in planning and zoning issues in their community. In conjunction with MAP, Oakland County provides training at our conference facility for Oakland County communities.

The Annual Oakland County Heritage Conference brings together individuals from various backgrounds, who deal with the built and natural environment, to discuss ways to improve their communities. The conference is designed to address the four program areas of Oakland County's Planning Department – Land Use & Zoning, Environmental Stewardship, Downtown Commercial Development, and Historic Preservation.
