Automakers are taking giant steps to transform their vehicle lineups to incorporate electric and hybrid models. Suppliers are developing the advanced batteries, components, systems and charging technology needed to make these vehicles go.
The region’s manufacturing workforce, likewise, is transitioning, with new skills needed to design and build tomorrow’s vehicles.
Oakland County Michigan Works! Oak Park is partnering with The EV Jobs Academy, the Global Epicenter of Mobility and educational institutions to provide Oakland County residents with training to prepare them for jobs in EV and Mobility. Limited tuition assistance is available for each eligible student and program.

310,000 workers needed across lithium-ion battery supply chain by 2030!
The greatest share of battery related employment growth will be in occupations that require training provided by associate and technical degree programs offered by community colleges, as well as through apprenticeships and on-the-job training. These include the top three occupations that account for 32 percent of projected total employment growth: assemblers and fabricators, other production occupations, and metal and plastics workers.
