Major Russell Yeiser oversees the Law Enforcement Services Group for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Major Yeiser has been with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for over twenty-four years and was most recently the Commander of the Rochester Hills Substation. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the substation, as well as all aspects of policing in the City of Rochester Hills.
Major Yeiser started his law enforcement career with the Oxford Police Department in 1997. He joined the Sheriff's Office in 2000, when Oxford Township began contracting with OCSO for law enforcement services. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2013, Captain in 2022, and Major in 2025.
Major Yeiser has worked in many different areas within the Sheriff's Office, including Corrective Services, Patrol Services, Emergency Response and Preparedness, the Training Unit and the Rochester Hills Detective Bureau. In addition, he served 21 years with the SWAT team.
Major Yeiser holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Rochester College and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Police School of Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy.
Throughout the years, Major Yeiser has received many awards, including Sheriff's Distinguished Unit Citations, Meritorious Service, Unit Citations, Professional Excellence and Commendation Citations and Lifesaving.
Major Yeiser is also a veteran of the United States Air Force/MI Air National Guard.

Oakland County Law Enforcement Group has patrol contracts with 10 townships, 3 cities, and 2 villages to provide around the clock police protection. The contract concept allows municipalities to customize police services to best suit the needs of individual communities. The most recent contract addition to the Sheriff's Office is the City of the Village of Clarkston. That is a total of over a quarter million citizens who benefit from the full service police protection of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. The Group also provides services for police and fire dispatch, advanced forensics and criminal investigations, oversees staff, officer and command welness and training, and runs the Sheriff's Administration.
